The Bible commands us not to despise prophecy, but also to test it. Every prophetic word must be weighed against Scripture, inner witness, and godly counsel.
Testing protects believers from error. Even true prophets can miss it, which is why accountability is crucial. No prophecy is above confirmation.
Judging prophecy does not mean criticizing the vessel but discerning the spirit behind the message. If it produces fear, bondage, or sin, it is not from God.
Testing ensures that prophecy strengthens the church instead of misleading it.
Scripture: “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV)
Self-assessment:
Do I eagerly test prophecy or blindly accept every word?
Do I surround myself with mature believers who can help discern prophecy?
Am I willing to discard words that do not align with Scripture?
